As Above, So Below: Jade is a web serial created by Geis. This is a spin-off from the mind of my friend Rina, who created the world of As Above, So Below to begin with. All credit for the worldbuilding and lore of AASB goes to her – I can only take credit for the story of Jade.
This story follows a few of the characters from Rina’s AASB tabletop campaign, Stargazers, including my own as its main character. Obviously, most people reading this have no idea who these people are, as the campaign is (and still will probably be by the time you’re reading this) mostly private. This is a prequel to Stargazers and no AASB knowledge is really required to enjoy the story.
Jade:
After the assassination of her master, martial artist Kofuku Yadomaru starts traveling the Earth looking for revenge. Her leads guide her towards the dark metropolis of Maulap City, where she has settled into a routine as a debt collector for a small-time yakuza family, with not much progress being done in her investigation. However, the wheels of fate quickly start turning once again, after a chance encounter with foreigner detective Veritable Cavalcade changes her entire worldview.
The naive-yet-intense Kofuku must navigate the criminal underworld of Maulap while unraveling conspiracies, go through the maze of rights and wrongs, and managing to still become the ideal martial artist her master wanted her to be.
Jade is very much inspired by the works of Wildbow (J.C. McCrae) and follows a similar structure to McCrae’s webserial Worm, where it is separated into small “arcs” with a few chapters and then a side-story interlude. A chapter of Jade will be posted... pretty much whenever I feel like. It might take a day or two, it might take a few. Who knows!
The story of Jade might contain some heavy themes. Reader discretion is advised.
